Social Post - Voter Registration
Arizona’s voter registration deadline is October 5. If you have a senior turning 18, a grandparent who moved, or a spouse who has not updated an address — take two minutes today. Legislative races here are decided by a few hundred votes. azsos.gov
Social Post - Why November Matters
More than 103,000 Arizona students use an Empowerment Scholarship Account — about one in ten students in the state, and one in five of them receives special education services. Know what is on your ballot before you fill it out.
Know the Rules
Your school is a 501(c)(3). That does not mean you have to sit this out — it means there is a line, and the ACSI guidance shows you where it is.
What your school can do
- Educate families on what is on the ballot
- Run nonpartisan voter registration drives
- Host a candidate night — if every candidate for that office is invited
- Share factual information about ballot measures
- Point families to nonpartisan research tools
What your school cannot do
- Endorse or oppose a candidate for office
- Invite one candidate without inviting the others
- Donate school funds to political activity
- Use school channels to campaign for a candidate
- Coordinate school resources with a campaign
Employees and donors are a different question
As a 501(c)(3), your school cannot donate to political activity. You as an individual can, and you are free to ask a donor in your community to do the same. Your school can give to C3 activities, which AZCEC also runs. When in doubt, read the ACSI flyer first or call Dan.
Register. Then Vote.
Midterms are decided by a few hundred votes. Legislative races can come down to a handful. If everyone in our community goes out and votes, we can make the difference.
Register by October 5
Make sure you, your staff, and everyone in your household is registered to vote.
Find your district
Use the Clean Elections district locator so you know exactly which legislative races are yours.
Run a drive at school
Graduating seniors turning 18 are the easiest registrations you will ever get. Pair the voter registration flyer with a table at an event you are already holding.
